An access log is a text file containing a full list of all of the files accessed by your website visitors. All of the files which were requested in one way or another will be included, so when you have a PHP script application and a visitor opens only the home page, for instance, you might find numerous files inside the log. This is because there are resources on the home page that are embedded - parts of other web pages, pics, and so on. These files shall be listed within the access log, so that you can get a complete picture of the way your site functions. The data is in plain text format, so the logs are occasionally termed "raw data" too. An access log contains the name of each and every requested file, the path to it, the date it was accessed, in addition to the user’s IP address, web browser and OS. Additional information, including the referrer site, is oftentimes provided too. A log file can be processed by various desktop programs for statistical purposes as an addition to the web statistics provided by your web server.

Access Log Manager in Website Hosting

Our custom-built Hepsia Control Panel features a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are one of them. Once you sign in to your website hosting account and navigate to this section, you will find a list of all the domains and subdomains you have. All it takes to allow the generation of access logs is to click on a button which will be available next to every single domain/subdomain. In case the option is enabled, you shall see a download link together with the file size so far, so you will be able to save the file to your computer and examine it or process it with some program. Enabling or disabling the logs becomes effective instantaneously, so if you no longer require one, you could stop it with only a click from the same section of the CP. You'll still be able to access the already developed content by simply clicking on the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers

Our state-of-the-art web hosting platform shall create access logs for every Internet site hosted within a semi-dedicated server account, as long as this feature is permitted. All domains and subdomains that you have shall be listed within the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia Control Panel, which we supply with all of the accounts, so if you want our system to start generating logs for any of them, you should simply click on the small button on the right side of the respective domain/subdomain and switch the default Off option to On. You may disable this function at any time by following the same steps. You will find a Download link for each log within the very same section of the CP, so you can save the content gathered by our system in .txt format with no more than a mouse click. An existing log file may be downloaded even after the feature has been deactivated, so you'll still be able to see the data that has already been generated.
